Selling Otherness

One of Nepalšs few resources in the global marketplace is its perceived otherness from the West. The commodification of this otherness produces "tradition." Tradition means many different things to many different people. In Nepalšs tourist discourse traditoin means what is authentically indigenous, that is, what is premodern, eastern, and exotic.
